Eli’s Top Priorities
You and Your Family Will Always Come First
Property Taxes
Everyone in Wyandotte County agrees on one thing. We are tired of seeing property taxes go up every year. This is hard because that money is needed for bills and food. In my house, we have a toddler who loves eating fresh fruit. We know exactly how much groceries cost! I will fight to make sure you keep more of your money. Even when other leaders forget, I will keep pushing to lower your taxes.
-
I will always vote for plans that give property tax relief to our families.
I will remind other state leaders that high taxes are a major concern for our community.
I will advocate for tax cuts that help homeowners stay in their homes.
I will never stop fighting to make living in our county more affordable for you.
Education
People in Kansas love our public schools. I believe our tax money should stay in these schools. We should not spend that money on private school plans that hurt our local kids. To help our state grow, we must give our schools the money they need. We also need to treat our teachers with respect for the hard work they do.
-
I will support laws that give public schools all the funding they need.
I will fight against any plan to send public tax money to private schools.
I will push for better pay for teachers and staff to help find more great educators.
I will work to protect the benefits of our school workers so they stay in our schools.
Immigration
As a person of color and a public school teacher, I know firsthand what it means when our communities are systemically targeted. With ICE actively in our neighborhoods, fear and trauma are straining the fabric of many families, including mine. This is a shared, daily struggle. And we need legislators who will show up, not just type statements.
-
Show up, yell loudly: If members of our community are targeted or snatched by ICE, I will show up anywhere and everywhere I can to keep their name in the spotlight, to help bring them home and fight for justice.
Keep Community Spaces Safe: Fight for strict state-level guidelines to ensure our classrooms, health clinics, and places of worship remain absolute sanctuaries for all families.
Build Multi-Ethnic Coalitions: Use the legislative platform to organize grassroots community defense, because an injury to one community in Wyandotte County is an injury to us all.
AI & Data Centers
In my English classroom, AI usage earns a big, fat ZERO in my grade book. It is crushing critical thinking and writing skills. And in communities, data centers get a big, fat NO vote from me. They’re gulping down valuable natural resources and belching out pollution into our air and water. Worse yet, these data centers are disproportionately being built in communities of color, which are already historically underserved.
-
Support regulations on AI usage, especially by state and local governments and contractors
Support local (community) votes before data center proposals move forward
Support legislation that would require data centers to be at least carbon neutral
Support legislation that would require data centers to hire unionized workers
Support legislation that would require significant, local investment in the community the data center is proposed.
Healthcare
For a long time, many working people in Kansas have gone without health insurance. This is also hard on our small-town hospitals. Getting help from a doctor should not depend on how much money you make. Expanding Medicaid is a smart move. It helps our families stay healthy and keeps our state's economy strong.
-
I will fight for Medicaid expansion to give more working people health insurance.
I will support laws that keep our rural and local hospitals open and running.
I will work to pass laws that lower the cost of doctor visits and medicine.
In 2022, Kansas voters were very clear. They voted to protect the right to an abortion in our state. I believe that medical choices, including abortion, are private. These choices belong to you and your doctor, not the government. I will always stand up for your right to make decisions about your own body. We must respect the will of the people and keep these services safe and legal.
Reproductive Rights
-
I will fight to protect the legal right to an abortion in Kansas.
I will vote against any new bans or laws that make it harder to get an abortion.
I will work to keep the government out of your private medical choices.
I will support the clinics and doctors who provide safe and legal reproductive care.
We need an economy that helps families and rewards hard work. Many people are struggling with high prices at the store and the gas station. I want to pass tax cuts that put money back in your pocket. I also support the unions and workers who keep our state running every day.
Economy & Cost of Living
-
I will work to end the state sales tax on groceries for good.
I will support the right of workers to join unions and stand together.
I will push for fair pay and safe jobs for all workers in Kansas.
I will look for smart tax cuts to help families deal with high costs.
Infrastructure & Community
Our community is only as strong as the things we use every day. We need safe roads and sturdy bridges to get to work and school. But a great neighborhood also needs public parks, libraries, and good public transit. I also believe that sidewalks are a big deal. Every person should be able to walk safely through their own neighborhood. I will work to bring state money back home to fix our streets and make our community a better place to live.
-
I will work to get state funding to fix our local roads and bridges.
I will support our public libraries so they can keep serving our families.
I will fight for more money to improve our public parks and green spaces.
I will advocate for better public transit and bus routes in our area.
I will push for a plan to build and repair sidewalks so our kids can walk safely.
I will work to ensure our local tax dollars are used to make our community stronger.
