As a veteran public school teacher, Eli’s driving passion has always been helping others and building meaningful relationships in the classroom. However, he sees daily how systemic issues work their way into the classroom. From lockdown drills to the exhaustion of overburdened families and out-of-touch politicians, these issues create barriers to progress that are beyond the control of educators. This is why Eli is seeking public office; he believes that if more everyday Kansans run, our politicians can finally be truly representative of the state.
Raised by working-class parents, Eli learned the importance of authenticity. He is a proud Kansan and a patient listener who understands that while life skills like critical thinking are vital, growth is nearly impossible when school buildings, roads, and personal finances are all crumbling. Whether he is cheering for Jayhawk basketball or advocating for his neighbors, Eli remains a fierce ally for those in need, rooted in the belief that politics should focus on the issues that regular people actually worry about.
A product of Topeka public schools and Washburn University, Eli’s experiences in speech and debate, mock trial, and the Boys and Girls Club taught him that while many can speak, few become quality listeners. Eli believes every Kansan has a unique story worth listening to, and that everyone deserves to be represented by someone who "gets" their experience, no matter where they come from or how many dollars they have to their name.
